Recorded sessions of PetSmart Charities series now online

The first four webinars in a five part series on feral cats and TNR, instructed by Bryan Kortis of Neighborhood Cats and presented by PetSmart Charities, are now available for viewing at your convenience.  The recorded sessions include Feral Cats, TNR & the Law, Feral Cats & Academia:  the Latest Research on TNR, Building a Community TNR Program 101 and Building a Community TNR Program - Advanced.   In the near future, the fifth session will be available in recorded form as well - Fundraising for TNR Programs.

Trap-Neuter-Return: Fixing Feral Cat Overpopulation, a video directed by Neighborhood Cats' Bryan Kortis and produced by The Humane Society of the United States, was awarded a Muse Medallion for being Best in Category (Video, DVD or Television Production) in the Cat Writers Association's 2008 annual contest.  The 16 minute film, intended for presentation to policymakers, examines the causes of feral cat overpopulation, evaluates traditional methods for reducing the cats' numbers and makes the case for Trap-Neuter-Return.

Tracking Your TNR Program's Results

New online database relies on remote data entry by caretakers

Too often, success for a TNR program is measured only by adding up the number of cats spay/neutered.  While this is important information, for real success, all those spay/neuters need to translate into fewer cats roaming the neighborhood.  Tracking reductions in colony size has always been a challenge, but now the online feral cat database offers a valuable tool for doing just that.
