Caretaker Training Returns to Long Island!
Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter to host Neighborhood Cats TNR Workshop 10/13
September 10, 2012
Back by popular demand! The Neighborhood Cats TNR Workshop has been held twice so far in Long Island's Town of Hempstead. Those Workshops each welcomed dozens of caretakers from Nassau and Suffolk counties, earning participants TNR certification and access to a network of local free and low-cost support services.
Now we're doing it again! On Saturday, October 13th our friends at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will host the Neighborhood Cats TNR Workshop as our instructors offer expert training in the essentials of safe and effective Trap-Neuter-Return. Topics will include establishing good community relations, feeding, winter shelter, arranging veterinary care, finding recovery space, safely handling feral cats and trapping (with an emphasis on conducting a mass trapping of an entire feral cat colony at once). Successful completion of the Workshop earns TNR certification, and attendees will receive resource guides to local free and low-cost trap-neuter-return related services.
