NYC Dept. of Health to Host Online List of TNR Organizations

If your organization is engaged in Trap-Neuter-Return in New York City, you should know about a new resource that can help create awareness for your activities. Starting on October 22, 2012 the New York City Department of Health's (DOH) website will list groups that work with feral cats and offer information to the public about TNR within the city's five boroughs. 

All  groups engaged in Trap-Neuter-Return in NYC are welcome to submit their information to the Department. Requirements are simple. To be included in the DOH listing send an email to; messages should include:

  1. The name of your organization as you want it to be listed on the webpage.
  2. A statement that the organization provides information about TNR and conducts TNR activities with feral cats in NYC.
  3. The name and contact information of a representative of the organization, and a statement that the representative is authorized to speak for the organization, agrees to the organization being listed on the Department website and may be contacted by the Department to provide the Department with updated and additional information as necessary. This information is for Department administrative purposes only and will not be included on the website.
The list will be updated periodically and there is no deadline for submission. For more information about DOH's new TNR website click here.

The Department's online list of TNR organizations is provided in accordance with Local Law 43 of 2012. On 8/23/12 the City Council voted to repeal an earlier mandate which required DOH to issue regulations governing the practice of Trap-Neuter-Return in New York City.
