Free-roaming Cat Spay/Neuter Grants from PetSmart Charities
Applications accepted Feb. 15 through March 31
February 1, 2010
PetSmart Charities will be accepting applications for their Free-roaming Cat Spay/Neuter program (and Targeted Spay/Neuter program) from February 15 through March 31, 2010. A free-roaming cat spay/neuter grant must help an organization build an effective program in reducing the feral and stray cat population in your community. The program must be efficient, have a measurable impact and be sustainable beyond the period of the grant funding. For more information and to obtain an application form, go to the Free-roaming Cat Spay/Neuter Program page on the PetSmart Charities website.
On the Free-roaming Cat Spay/Neuter Program page, you'll find a 15 minute webinar that describes in detail what the procedures are for filing an application and what kind of projects will be considered.
This grant program will be much more rigorous than in the past and will require regular, ongoing communication with PetSmart Charities staff. Your organization must be open to changing the way you currently work and have the time and resources to create a TNR program that will perform enough spay/neuters to actually reduce your community’s free-roaming cat population. You also will need to collect data on your project which accurately measures your results.
PetSmart Charities will consider applications in the range of $10,000 to $100,000 annually, with the possibility of a two-year commitment. Grantees will also receive coaching support and mentorship during the course of a funded project. [NOTE: There are no state deadlines.]
