First-ever Feral Cat Food Bank Opens for Business
October 19, 2002

The first food bank exclusively for feral cats has opened for business!  The start of the program, administered by Neighborhood Cats with the support of ASPCA Cares and Art for Animals, was made possible by a generous donation of MAX CAT dry food by Nutro Products. The goal is to reduce or eliminate the cost to caretakers of feeding their feral colonies. In its first month of operation, the bank gave away over a ton of dry food to two dozen caretakers looking after almost 300 cats. To be eligible, caretakers must register their colonies with Neighborhood Cats. More caretakers and their cats will be enrolled as more food is received.
