Feral Cat Colony Registration System Launched in NYC
September 20, 2002

Neighborhood Cats announced the launch of a colony registration system for the caretakers of neutered feral cat colonies in New York City. Within the next few months, the system will be Internet-based and caretakers will be able to log on to register and update their colonies. The system will allow for the building of a database whose ultimate purpose will be to track the effectiveness of TNR. When enough colonies are enrolled, the registration system will make it possible for eartipped cats turned into city shelters to be returned to their homes (as is now done in San Francisco). Colony registrants are eligible to participate in special programs designed to assist caretakers and in the growing feral cat caretaker network.
