Low cost spay/neuter

Access to low cost spay/neuter is a critical part of doing TNR. Listed below are a number of national and state databases of clinics providing affordable spay/neuter surgeries for cats. When you find one near you, check that the listing is current. If you'll be trapping, find out if the clinic accepts feral cats in traps. Finally, before making an appointment, get a quote for all the services you'll need.

If you can't find a listing here, try contacting a local shelter, rescue group or animal control agency to see if they can provide a referral. (This page was updated July 24, 2023.)

National Databases

United Spay Alliance
Now offering the most up-to-date listings among the national databases of low cost spay/neuter. First go to their spay/neuter referral map, then click on the state you're interested in, enter your city or zip code and set the parameters for distance from your location. Important! If there are no listings on the map or none that work for you, click on the link in the sentence above the map which says, "Additional information may be available in our written directory, organized by county. [Your state] here." In many cases, the written directory will have far more listings than the map.

ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance
Before the ASPCA took it over, the organization was known as the Humane Alliance and helped train and establish scores of high volume spay/neuter clinics across the United States. The National Spay Neuter Response Team Clinics map shows all the clinics set up as of 2019 and clicking on one of the blue pins will reveal contact info for that clinic. Not all info will be current and you'll need to call to confirm, but a good place to start.

Community Cats United
The FixFinder Low Cost Spay/Neuter Database allows you to search within a radius of 50 miles for low cost, mobile and full service clinics, as well as voucher and TNR programs.

Friends of Animals
Offering spay and neuter certificates at a set price as well as referrals to participating clinics in your area. (Note: as with all certificate programs, verify with the clinic before your appointment which costs the certificate will cover - and which ones it won't. Best practice is to get a full and complete quote beforehand.)
